St. Louis City Requiring Local Phone Number

I just got back from putting in my application, and I had a bit of trouble regarding my phone number. I haven't had a landline in five years or so, and so my cell phone is from another state. When I put the number down on my application I was told that I needed to have a St. Louis local number or they wouldn't process my application.

I was able to use my work phone number so it wasn't a huge roadblock, but it is something to be aware of if you're filing your application in the city.

If anyone wants to push this, they can submit anyway using any phone number they please. The law requires a denial be given in writing stating the reason why. I think they will be reluctant to put in writing that they denied you because of the prefix on your phone number. It would be too easy to pay the $10 to file in small claims court and have a judge look at the statute to see to what kind of phone one has to have to apply and rule that there is no reference to it in the law.
