No. Hospitals are on the prohibited places list in Missouri.

MO Weapons Law:
http://www.moga.mo.gov/STATUTES/C571.HTM

Specifically, go to this page and read #17
http://www.moga.mo.gov/statutes/C500-599/5710000107.HTM

We were able to keep banks off the list. Their signs are the dress code variety because they are not in the statute as prohibited places.

I would respectfully submit that the answer is not that black and white. There are differences in wording between 571.030 and 571.107. Section 571.030 says that certain activities constitute the crime of unlawful use of weapons, UNLESS the actor has a concealed carry endorsement. The concealed carry endorsement provides an exemption from the criminal law, so to speak. Section 571.107 does not make carrying a crime and does not prohibit anything. It says that no concealed carry endorsement "shall authorize any person to carry concealed firearms into..." etc. However, that is not a prohibition. No concealed carry endorsement authorizes you to buy zucchini at Schnucks, either, but you are free to do so. I would argue that the same rule applicable to private property with a posted notice is applicable to hospitals (because they are both subsections of the same section), except that hospitals don't have to post a notice. That means you can be excluded from the hospital premises, which is not quite the same thing as a prohibition, and if you refuse to leave then you have a criminal problem.

Well said, medscape.

Perhaps I oversimplified things.. The short answer for most licensees is still that carry in hospitals puts your license in jeopardy though.

When I showed up at the emergency room one night needing care for a sick family member they put me through a metal detector on the way in so let's be sure not to view hospitals like private businesses that post. The penalties are as follows;

"If such person refuses to leave the premises and a peace officer is summoned, such person may be issued a citation for an amount not to exceed one hundred dollars for the first offense. If a second citation for a similar violation occurs within a six-month period, such person shall be fined an amount not to exceed two hundred dollars and his or her endorsement to carry concealed firearms shall be suspended for a period of one year. If a third citation for a similar violation is issued within one year of the first citation, such person shall be fined an amount not to exceed five hundred dollars and shall have his or her concealed carry endorsement revoked and such person shall not be eligible for a concealed carry endorsement for a period of three years."

I know, they're SUPPOSED to ask you to leave first, but would you be surprised if they didn't bother and just call it in as armed and refusing to leave -or worse? Hopolophobes are not known for logical behavior and if it's your word against theirs it could mean trouble.

Hope that's not too long-winded but med is right. We can not afford to get this wrong.

To boil my comments down to one sentence: If you are in a hospital with a CCW you haven't done anything illegal.

Could they make trouble for you? As our moderator points out, they probably could. It would require detection. When our first grandson arrived 11 weeks early last December, we were in and out through the front door every few days and never saw hospital security. Coming in through the ER would be more problematic.
