If a person does not hear from the sherriff within the 45 day waiting period then what is the next step in the process?--thanks Greg,(great class)--paul

A polite phone call or visit would probably work. Things have been known to slip through the cracks and I would assume that before any other reason. Anything you have to prove your date of application would be helpful just so they know you are not guessing.

Just an update--my friend never got any word in the 45 day period so they gave him a hand written approval and he got his permit -they told him that by law they had to give it to him because it had been 45 days--they also said that if the background does come back bad that they would come get his permit. I was surprised that they do that but was happy for him.
