Does anyone know the reason that the Missouri Attorney General's web page lists Wisconsin as having reciprocity with Missouri, but according to the list published by the Wisconsin AG, there is no reciprocity with Missouri.
I was just trying to get the correct information, as I am planning to visit Wisconsin in a couple of months with my son scouting colleges. Thanks.

As of 11/03/2011, the Missouri Attorney General's website has been updated to show that Wisconsin does not recognize Missouri's CCW permit.

From the new law in Wisconsin:

"Treats a permit, license, approval, or other authorization issued by another state in the same manner as a license issued under this bill if the individual who possesses the authorization submitted to a background check to determine of the individual is prohibited from possessing a firearm."

I got this from a firearms chat so verify it for yourself:

Since their law took effect the 1st of this month, they may just not be up to speed with all the other states yet. Our Attorney General SHOULD be appealing to the Wisconsin DOJ to get us on their approved states list but nothing prevents a private citizen from doing it.

So now that Wisconsin has removed the training requirements for their CCW, with the wording of their law, does this mean that they are going to recognize any permit issued by any state?

I got the following here:
http://www.doj.state.wi.us/dles/cib/ConcealedCarry/ConcealedCarry.asp

>>>>
In establishing this list, DOJ has tried to be as inclusive as possible and has communicated with officials in every other state to obtain information about their background check laws and policies. This list is current as of 10/26/11:

Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands

DOJ will maintain the accuracy of this list on an ongoing basis. If a person believes they have information indicating that a state has been wrongly omitted from the list, they may submit that information to DOJ in writing. Any such information will be reviewed and the list will be adjusted whenever DOJ identifies an inaccuracy.

As best as I can tell we are not on their list yet. But get it from them, and get it in writing. Any information you get here will not prevent you from going to jail if a police officer disagrees. This goes for any state you go to. If it says they honor your license on their website, PRINT it out and TAKE a copy with you. Saying "I read it on your website" also will not prevent a trip to jail.
