Defense Ammo

I was told by someone yesterday that in MO you can get into legal trouble if you protect yourself and end up having to use a target round to do so.
Lets say you are defending your home and you run out of hollow points and you load up with round nose and kill an intruder.
I couldn't find anything in the law that specifies ammunition that is to be carried.
Any insight?

Don't believe everything you hear.

If a round of ball ammo passes through your attacker and winds up in an innocent bystander I could see it being trouble for you though.
